Botanical Talk

The Long Island Botanical Society has scheduled the following talk:

December 11, 7:30 PM
Andrew Greller: "Cycads: A Distinctive Group of Gymnosperms."
This talk will cover a wide array of topics on this group which evolved before the dinosaurs. They have many chimals which are unknown in other groups, are used in anti-cancer experiments, and are a valuable landscape plant. Andy is the new LIBS VP and Professor Emeritus from Queens College, having studied or taught plant morphology for 45 years. He has seen cycads in the wild or growing under cultivation in Florida, California, Mexico, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Japan.
