Pollution Feeds Mosquitos

A Michigan blogger reports on a study that finds polluted water is friendlier to mosquito breeding

Chaves’ work suggests a double whammy–all those bacteria are wonderful food supplies for the bacteria that feed mosquitoes. And the mosquitoes are bigger, which means they can live longer–and have a better shot at transmitting a mosquito-borne disease, of which there are many.

Some days, when I see the North Shore beaches, I wonder what the heck is going on with them-swimming areas seem to have shrunk, the restrictions are many, and who knows about the quality of the water.
